Why does my eSIM show "SIM Removed" or a failure message during installation?

If you see a "SIM Removed" message or an error during eSIM installation, don't panic — this is normal on some devices and does not mean the installation has failed.

After scanning your QR code, your device may display one of the following:

  • A failure or error message
  • "SIM Removed"
  • No eSIM appearing immediately in your SIM settings

This is a known behaviour on certain devices. The eSIM is still being provisioned in the background via an over-the-air (OTA) update. Simply wait a few minutes and your eSIM will appear in your SIM settings — it may initially show as "Wireless" while the carrier details finish downloading, before updating to the final carrier name.

Alert Do not scan the QR code a second time. Each QR code can only be used once. Scanning it again will not speed up the process and may cause issues with your activation.

What to do:

  1. Dismiss any error or "SIM Removed" message.
  2. Wait 5–10 minutes without restarting or re-scanning.
  3. Go to Settings → Cellular (iOS) or Settings → Connections → SIM Manager (Android).
  4. Your eSIM should now appear. Tap it to set it as your active plan.

If your eSIM has not appeared after 30 minutes, please submit a support ticket and we'll get you sorted.
